Life Drawing

Week One

Yes life drawing. It comes with A-Level and here it is as expected, to be honest there is nothing special about it. In the first week I realised how difficult drawing an entire person was, I started by doing two A3 and then did one in my sketchbook, naturally my first attempts were not to good I can explain why.

My first one was only an outline because I ran out of time, this is the same sort of speed up thing, this first week is not the best but as I have finished the second week you will see I have improved slightly and hope to continue. Most of these are self explanatory and this is more watching the development of my skill.

Sorry the photo is a bit blurry and the face is not to good as are most of these have no shading at all, the numbers and writing in the top left are name dates time and numbers corresponding to the session and then the drawing within it.

This one is the best of the first session because there is different weights of line and it has a bit more shading although it needs a bit more detail, something odd about these sessions is as I get into the rhythm I get better so as the drawings get shorter I get better.

Week Two

This was chalk week or as I like to call it classics week, chalk life drawing just seems a sort of art benchmark these are all A4, the first one is 30 minutes and the reason its so bare is because I spent a long time adjusting proportions as I said by the end of the session I got the shape making down.

As I said previously these are mostly quite self explanatory, at this point I decided to not include the face you can see I nhad attempted and ended up rubbing it out because it was draining all of my time.

here I am slightly hypocritical but I put in the head to try and help getting the shoulders in line as that is what took time out of my drawing I have been having a few problems trying to get the neck and upper chest shapes right.

Here you can see that the neck trouble came back up again, I added in the head because as you can see it is a main part, in fact I wish to alter the no head statement. You can also see how I went about doing hands it is very difficult to get finger shapes right so it is a good idea to sketch out the hands in basic shapes.

This one was technically not supposed to exist, our model asked if the three remaining students myself included wanted to do a last 5 minute pose and in fact one minute in our teacher who was out of the room at this point asked up to stop, that was shortly cleared up. You can see clearly how I have become a lot quicker in this 5 minute compared to the first 30 minute one.
