Vol. 11
27th - August - 2012
Xbox 360
I tried somthing new this week, instead of the usual I am trying not putting in cover lines meaning text apart from the title. As usual there is a complication two in fact, you can tell a good magazine by where the title is, it should be behind the centrepiece (if there is a centrepiece) a good example is Vol. 7 Iron Man what's great about SFX is they also do a no cover lines version but you need to subscribe, that brings me onto my second point.
You need to find a magazine without cover lines over the centrepiece no cover lines are usually a subscribing perk but Microsoft make software not magazines so really the Xbox magazine is a sideline. So as the Xbox magazine has obnoxious cover lines and a title in-front it was not the easiest, I subtracted most text as best as I could.
I chose this magazine despite the cover lines problem because of the subject I have never played Borderlands, I have watched people play it and I am a huge fan of the art style, I don't know what the art term is but in game terms it is cell shaded sort of like a graphic novel. I really like it
This magazine was very fun, it helped with drawing people top tip here if you see a face as lines it will be easier to draw than if you see a face. . . apparently. it was a bit more basic than a usual photograph less working over detail etc. A nice relaxed break in the form of a drawing
The face is my favourite part of this one as it has most contrast although it is more difficult to see on the photo its a bit whitewashed.
